Sterren op het doek

Making a new portrait of a face that is familiar for so many people: this sounded like a nice challenge to Thomas. He participated in the Dutch TV program Sterren op het Doek (Stars on Canvas), in which three artists portray a famous Dutchman. He made a hyper-realistic portrait of former professional football player and football coach Ronald Koeman. Thomas found participating in this competition fun, but also exciting. Having so many cameras around him and showing his work to the general public were new for him. Ronald Koeman chose his work and Thomas won the competition: "It is a huge honor: when one of the greatest coaching legends scores your work a ten."

In the artwork ‘Gezichtsveld’, Ronald Koeman always keeps looking at his audience. This work is made with charcoal. In addition, special white chalk has been processed, which is used for the lines of the football field of FC Groningen, the football club where Koeman started his successful career.
